Service Description: This service has been created mainly for visualization and informational purposes in the Use cases Section in the new CLMS portal.
The polygonal data has been extracted from the GISCO database [CNTR_2020] maintained by Eurostat (European Commission). The service contains the location of the World countries. The country is represented in its real shape with a polygon and with a point. In the attribute tables, the country name, the country name in English and the country ID and country ISO3 code are provided. The points are classified in the Region they belong (Continent).
See https://sdi.eea.europa.eu/catalogue/srv/eng/catalog.search#/metadata/ef5933f9-b380-4539-a812-306ad48a8f67 for the dataset metadata.
GISCO manages a database of geographical information and provides related services to the Commission. Its database contains core geographical data covering the whole of Europe, such as administrative boundaries, and thematic geospatial information, such as population grid data. Some data are available for download by the public and may be used for non-commercial purposes. For further details and information about any forthcoming new or updated datasets, see http://ec.europa.eu/eurostat/web/gisco/geodata.
