 "description": "The \u201cDegree of Urbanisation Grid\u201d DGUR_LEVEL1_2011_GR implements the Stage 1 of the Degree of Urbanisation methodology and generates output grids and spatial entities by classifying 1 km2 grid cells, on the basis of population density, size and contiguity, with the GHSL SMOD classification schema organized in two separate hierarchical levels.At the first hierarchical level, the GHSL SMOD classifies the 1 km² grid cells by identifying the following spatial entities: a) \u201cUrban Centre\u201d, b) \u201cUrban Cluster\u201d and classifying all the other cells as \u201cRural Grid Cells\u201d. \u201cUrban Centre\u201d (also \u201cHigh Density Cluster\u201d - HDC) - An urban centre consists of contiguous grid cells (4-connectivity cluster) with a density of at least 1,500 inhabitants per km2 of permanent land, and has at least 50,000 inhabitants in the cluster with smoothed boundaries (3-by-3 conditional majority filtering3) and <15 km2 holes filled.",
